A long-cherished dream of filmmaker and actor Shiboprosad Mukherjee is finally set to become a reality. Shiboprosad has announced that he and director Nandita Roy will be working with veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty in their next film, scheduled for 2027.
Taking to Facebook, Shiboprosad confirmed the collaboration, writing, “Yes, finally we are working together. Nandita di and I, with Mithun Chakraborty.”
For Shiboprosad, the project carries a deeply personal significance. He revealed that working with Mithun Chakraborty had been one of his childhood dreams. Having grown up watching Mithun in films such as Agneepath, Disco Dancer, Do Anjaane and Dance Dance, Shiboprosad described the veteran actor as much more than a star.
He also recalled Mithun’s memorable work in Bengali cinema and said that the actor’s performances had always reminded him that great acting transcends language and boundaries.
Mithun’s Reaction to the Story
According to Shiboprosad, the two had known each other professionally for some time and had discussed the possibility of working together. However, the right opportunity had not come along until now.
When Shiboprosad finally met Mithun and narrated the story, the veteran actor reportedly responded with enthusiasm.
“You nailed it! This is my life story,” Mithun told him after hearing the narration, according to Shiboprosad’s post.
Shiboprosad also recalled an earlier interaction when Mithun was in the United States. He had sent the actor a voice note introducing himself, following which Mithun called him back and jokingly said that there was no need for such a long introduction because he was already ready to work with him.
A Special Film for Windows Production House
The upcoming project will be a Windows Production House venture and is being planned as part of the production house’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
The film will mark the next collaboration between Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy, with Mithun Chakraborty joining the project as the lead attraction.
Details about the film’s title, storyline, character details and shooting schedule have not yet been officially revealed.
For Shiboprosad, however, the announcement itself marks the fulfilment of a dream that began in childhood. As he wrote in his post, 2027 will belong to Mithun Chakraborty and Windows Production House, with the veteran actor becoming part of a special cinematic milestone for the banner.
