The wait is finally over for Bengali reality-show fans. Bigg Boss Bangla is set to premiere on August 30 on Star Jalsha and JioHotstar, with former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly taking on the role of host.
The Bengali edition of one of television’s biggest reality franchises was officially launched in Kolkata, where Ganguly spoke about stepping into a completely new space filled with drama, emotional moments, unexpected twists and changing relationships.
Sana Ganguly’s Reaction to the Show
Speaking about his new role, Ganguly shared a humorous conversation with his daughter Sana Ganguly. He revealed that she was surprised to see him take up a show as unpredictable as Bigg Boss and wondered how he would handle the contestants and the constantly changing situations inside the house.
Ganguly also shared a light-hearted comment about his family, saying that while his father was the first “Bigg Boss” in his life, his mother is now the head of the family.
‘I Will Always Stand by What Is Right’
With Bigg Boss known for its intense relationships and conflicts, Ganguly was asked whether his personal connections with contestants could influence his decisions as host.
The former cricketer made his position clear. According to Ganguly, even if someone he knows enters the Bigg Boss house, he will maintain a professional approach and always support what is right and true.
Sourav on Salman Khan Comparisons
As Salman Khan has been closely associated with the Hindi edition of Bigg Boss, Ganguly was naturally asked about comparisons between the two hosts.
Ganguly revealed that he has met Salman Khan only once, at a film festival. Rather than focusing on comparisons, he said he intends to bring his own personality and approach to the Bengali edition.
