Actress Madhumita Sarcar is all set to begin a new chapter in her career with her Bangladeshi debut film ‘Gulshaner Chameli’. Speaking at the film’s launch in Dhaka, the actress opened up about her long-standing connection with Bangladeshi audiences and her excitement about playing a completely new character.

For more than a decade, Madhumita has been familiar to Bengali television viewers as Pakhi from the popular serial Bojhena Se Bojhena. The character earned her a strong fan base in Bangladesh as well.

Now, with Gulshaner Chameli, the actress hopes to create a fresh identity with the character of Chameli.

From Pakhi to Chameli

Speaking at the launch, Madhumita recalled the love and warmth she received from Bangladeshi audiences during her visits to the country.

“For the last 10 to 12 years, you’ve known me as Pakhi. This time, I want you to know me as Chameli,” the actress said.

Madhumita added that she was overwhelmed by the response she received and felt that beginning her Bangladesh journey with such positivity and goodwill was particularly special.

A New Chapter for Madhumita

The actress’s association with Bangladeshi audiences has largely been connected to her memorable portrayal of Pakhi. However, she now wants viewers to see her in a different light through Gulshaner Chameli.

The film marks an important step for Madhumita as she enters the Bangladeshi film industry. While details about the film’s story and her character are being kept limited, her appearance as Chameli has already created curiosity among audiences on both sides of the border.

With Gulshaner Chameli, Madhumita Sarcar is hoping to move beyond the identity of Pakhi and build a new connection with viewers—this time as Chameli.
